Inspiring landscapes, vibrant communities, and endless opportunities were all buzzwords at the time the decision was made to construct the the Roberta Bondar Place on Foster Drive. This building was intended to serve as the headquarters of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp., which was relocated to Sault Ste. Marie as part of the Northern Ontario Relocation Program of the 1980s.

Bondar Place has 265,000 square feet of rentable space and houses staff from the ministries of Children and Youth Services, Community and Social Services, Community Safety and Correctional Services, Citizenship and Immigration, Labour, Natural Resources, Northern Development and Mines, Transportation, and the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation. This building completes Roberta Bondar Park, and has become a key landmark on the downtown waterfront.
